Is there a difference between using a coat of white kitchen cooking and black jacket?

Top Chef last night and saw one of the boys had a black coat everything else was white chef. Is there a difference between colors – colors symbolize something (like Scrubs with the hospital?) Or is only one color? Thanks for your answers.

You can use rainbow if you will, is an option. Maybe you could choose black or white, depending on whether you have a color that corresponds better to the decor.
